Vulcaniella anatolica is a butterfly ( moth ) from the family of cosmopterigidae (Cosmopterigidae). The species name was derived from the geographical region Anatolia .

features

The moths reach a wingspan of 9 millimeters. The head shines white. In the labial palps , the first segment is gray-brown, the second segment has a gray-brown spot on the outside at the base and a brown subapical ring. The third segment is white and mottled brown on the sides.

The antennae are dark brown and ringed white in the first two thirds. In the last third there are two dark brown sections made up of three segments, each separated by a white segment. In front of the tip, the antennae are ringed with two white and two brown segments each. The base of the antennae ( Scapus ) has a dark brown sheen and a white line at the front and a white spot at the tip. Ventrally it is white.

The thorax has a golden brown sheen, is provided with a white spot in front and bordered in white at the back. The tegulae shine dark golden brown and are lined with white at the back.

The legs have a dark brown sheen. The anterior tibes have two basal spots and medial and apical rings. The tibia of the mid and hind legs have white basal and apical ligaments. The anterior tarsi have a white basal ring and a white apical ring on the first segment. Segments two and five are white. The tarsi of the middle legs have a white basal and apical band on the first segment. Segments two, three and five have a white apical ring. The first segment of the posterior tarsi is colored in the same way as that of the middle tarsi. The remaining segments are dorsally white and ventrally ocher. The spurs are ocher white.

The forewings have a dark golden brown sheen. An outward sloping band is 1/6 of the forewing length. It is white from the Costa loader to the anal fold and behind it is silver and sublime. The wing markings include six raised silver spots. There are two costal spots, the first is in front of half the fore wing length and borders on the Costa loaders. The second is at 3/4 of the forewing length and extends with a white line from the Costa loader to the fringed scales. There are three spots on the inner edge of the wing. The first is in the anal fold at 1/3 of the fore wing length. The second is between the two costal spots on the wing inner edge. The third is at the interior corner outside of the third costal spot. Another spot is on the apex . The fringed scales are gray-brown. The hind wings have a light gray sheen and are more brownish towards the apex.

The first three segments of the abdomen are dorsally ocher gray, the other segments have a gray sheen. Ventrally they shine gray and are tinted pale gold. The anal tuft is white.

In the male, the right brachium tapers apically . It is curved inward, the tip is broadened and curved outward. The left brachium is straight and has a slightly pointed apex. The blades are long and narrow, the cucullus is twisted. The right valvella is shorter than the anterior part of the aedeagus . It is curved upwards and has a rounded tip. At the base there is a rounded lobe. The right valvella is short and has a trimmed tip. The aedeagus is quite slim. The front part tapers gradually and is thickened in the middle.

The female genital fittings have not yet been described.

Similar species

Vulcaniella anatolica is similar to Vulcaniella fiordalisa , but differs in the first raised dorsal spot, which is not below the first costal spot. Vulcaniella anatolica differs from Vulcaniella pontica by having a white spot on the front of the thorax.

distribution

Vulcaniella anatolica is native to Asia Minor .
