The Nikola Tesla thermal power plants ( Serbian Термоелектране Никола Тесла Termoelektrane Nikola Tesla , TENT for short ) are a coal-fired power plant complex in Serbia , named in honor of the inventor Nikola Tesla . The complex consists of the two large power plants Nikola Tesla A and B , located near Obrenovac on the Save about 40 km upstream from Belgrade, and the two smaller, somewhat remote power plants Kolubara A and Morava .
The complex is by far the largest energy producer in Serbia and produces around half of Serbia's demand.
Lignite is used as fuel , which is transported by rail from the opencast mine fields in the Kolubara Basin.
