The Wätering is a right-hand tributary of the Hunte . It flows exclusively in the southern area of the Diepholz district ( Lower Saxony ).

The 7 km long Wätering runs exclusively between the Lower Saxon inland lake Dümmer and the Lower Saxon district town of Diepholz . It rises from the Dümmer, on its north side near the Lembruch district of Eickhöpen (combined municipality of Altes Amt Lemförde ), then flows in a northerly direction west of federal highway 51 and at times - in the Graftlage area - right next to it. In this area, the sculpture path “Diepholz | Dumber ”created. South of the town center of Diepholz, near the "Fliegerhorst", the Wätering flows into the Hunte, which then flows further north.
