Władysław Ślebodziński (born February 6, 1884 in Pysznica , † January 3, 1972 in Wroclaw ) was a Polish mathematician from the Cracow School of Mathematicians . His scientific interest was mainly in differential geometry and the Lie derivative . Ślebodziński studied mathematics at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow and from 1919 worked at the Technical University of Poznan , where he received his doctorate and habilitation. During the Second World War he taught at the underground university , for which he was arrested by the Germans, in Auschwitz , and then imprisoned in Groß-Rosen and Mittelbau-Dora . In 1945 he became a professor at the University of Breslau and in 1951 at the Technical University of Poznan. From 1949 to 1960 he was a member of the Polska Akademia Nauk .
