Ladislaus von Czachorski (Polish Władysław Czachórski, read Wuadisuaf Tschachurski) (born September 22, 1850 in Grabowczyk near Lublin , † January 13, 1911 in Munich ) was a Polish academic painter.
He studied 1866–1867 in the drawing class in Warsaw with Rafał Hadziewicz , then in 1868 in Dresden , 1869–1873 in Munich. 1874–1877 he visited Italy and France. In 1879 he settled in Munich, where he was soon recognized as a portrait painter for the rich Munich bourgeoisie. He became a representative of Wilhelminian style painting at the Munich Piloty School. He received the title of honorary professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . In 1893 he was awarded the Order of St. Michael .
He mainly painted genre scenes, portraits and still lifes as well as pictures about Shakespeare dramas, in the style of Gerard ter Borch . His painting showed no influence from contemporary trends, was characterized by a photographic precision. He repeated some particularly successful images several times with minor changes.
The art critics accused him of the banality of his works.
