WD TV
The WD TV is a set-top box from Western Digital which plays videos, pictures and music from USB devices and NAS servers or UPnP media servers . It is able to display HD videos via an HDMI connection or SD videos via a composite connection and plays the usual video and audio formats .

WD TV (1st generation)
In November 2008 Western Digital introduced the first WD TV with Full HD (1080p) and DTS support.

WD TV Mini
The WD TV Mini was introduced in the fall of 2009 and is a slimmed-down version of the WD TV of the first and second generation. This means, for example, that there is no HDMI connection.

WD TV Live (1st generation)
The first generation WD TV Live was presented together with the WD TV Mini. Unlike the mini version, this version supports Full HD (1080p). For the first time, an Ethernet connection is also available, which enables access to various online services and streaming from PC or NAS server . About the USB port it is also possible a USB - Wi-Fi adapter to connect. The support of DVD menus was submitted via a firmware update .

WD TV Live Plus
At the beginning of 2010, the WD TV Live Plus was presented. The functions were carried over from the first WD-TV-Live generation and some online services were added. This was the reason the WD TV Live Plus was available almost exclusively in the US and Canada.

WD TV Live Hub
The WD TV Live Hub was introduced in autumn 2010 and is the first WD TV with an integrated 1 TB storage. It uses the same components as the WD TV Live (1st generation) and WD TV Live Plus. Various games and a programmable remote control are included.

Hacks
Some WD TVs have been hacked to enable various new features, such as: B. connecting an external DVD drive or improving so-called thumbnails. The WD TV of the first and second generation as well as the WD TV Live and the WD TV Live Plus with the hacked firmware WDLXTV are currently supported. The WD TV Live (third generation) runs with the hacked firmware Guimli.
