The 1956/57 season was the fifth regular season of the Western Hockey League (WHL). The Brandon Regals became champions .

Team changes

The following changes were made before the start of the season:

In the regular season the league was divided into two divisions (Coast and Prairie). The top three teams in each division qualified for the playoffs, with the first-placed team in each division being set for the division finals. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a tie and zero points for a defeat.
