Waisenberg ( Slovenian Važenberk ) is a district of the municipality of Völkermarkt in Carinthia . The widely scattered village is about ten kilometers northwest of Völkermarkt.
history
Waisenberg was incorporated into the large municipality of Völkermarkt in 1973. Until then it was an independent municipality with its seat in St. Margarethen. The name comes from the castle Waisenberg , which has been preserved as a ruin and stands on a light limestone rock.
In 1994 a barrow of an unknown prince from the late Bronze Age was uncovered, the excavations of which can be viewed in the district museum in Völkermarkt.

In the village there is a sheep farm at the Hafnerhof, which supplies delicatessen restaurants and delicatessen shops throughout Austria with various sheep's milk products.
