Previous construction

In Venne, a previous church consecrated to Walburga consisted of stone with a vaulted nave until the 19th century . According to inscriptions, it was consecrated in 1289 , restored in 1631 and repaired in 1663 and 1728. In 1844 the old church was demolished because it was dilapidated and no longer large enough.

New Church

From 1845 to 1847 a new neo-Gothic church was built according to plans by the architect Emanuel Bruno Quaet-Faslem . It is a hall church of sandstone with West Tower .

The north, south and west walls of the nave are equipped with galleries . On the east side is the pulpit altar , which stylistically represents the transition from classicism to neo-Gothic. The sacristy adjoins it to the east .

South of the tower is the so-called Paterstein , a memorial stone for a clergyman who is said to have been murdered. The polygonal stone with the inscription and representation of the clergyman dates from the 14th century.
