Location of Wald in Wuppertal

Forest was a location in the west of the Bergisch city ​​of Wuppertal , Elberfeld district . With the expansion of the Osterholz pit , the place fell into desolation.

Location and description

The location was at an altitude of 168  m above sea level. NN south of Holthausen in what is now the residential area of Schöller-Dornap in the Vohwinkel district . Neighboring locations were Buntenbeck , Habbach , Holthausen , In der Furth , Kalkofen , Schleheck and Schöller .

Forest is recorded as Waldt as a Bergische Hofschaft on the Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies from 1715, as well as forest on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824.

In 1832, Wald belonged to the Schöller community in the Haan mayor's office (from 1894 in the Gruiten mayor's office ) in the Elberfeld district . The place, categorized as Hof according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , was designated as Am Wald and at that time owned a residential building and an agricultural building. At that time there were six people living in the village, all of them Catholic.

On the map from 1843 the farm is as am Wald , later on a map from 1892 again as a forest . In the 1930s, the place fell into desolation when Kalkwerke H. Oetelshofen GmbH acquired the site and the Osterholz pit expanded.
