The apsheronsk narrow-gauge railway ( Russian Апшеронская узкоколейная железная дорога , transkr. Apscheronskaja uskokoleinaja schelesnaja doroga , transl. Apšeronskaâ uzkokolejnaâ železnaâ doroga ) is a forest railway in the Russian region of Krasnodar .

history

The first section of the narrow-gauge railway was opened in 1927. Of the former 127 km long forest railway network with a gauge of 750 mm, a remaining distance of 37 km is still available today. Meanwhile, the route is only operated in freight traffic , public passenger traffic runs between Chernigovskoye and Otdaljonny. The railway is owned by ZAO «PDK Apsheronsk» ( Russian ЗАО «ПДК Апшеронск» ), which also owns the sawmill in Apsheronsk . The Apscheronsk Forest Railway is the only narrow-gauge railway in the Russian Caucasus .
