Forest Fire Medal 2019

The medal of thanks for helpers on the occasion of the forest fire 2019 - or in short: Forest fire medal 2019 - is an award from the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . It was founded on August 27, 2019 by a joint decree by the Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig and the Minister for the Interior and Europe Lorenz Caffier on the occasion of the forest fire near Lübenheen 2019 in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district .

Award terms

The medal was awarded to all citizens who provided help in fighting the fire on the former military training area Lübenheen from June 25 to July 8, 2019. It was the largest forest fire in Mecklenburg since 1934.

Appearance and wearing style

The silver medal with a diameter of 36 mm shows on its obverse the outline of the former military training area in the middle of the Lübheen military training area with a stylized flame that is extinguished from the edge of the medal with a water bow. All around is the inscription forest fire Lübenheen - 30.06.-08.07.2019 . The reverse shows the large coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and the coat of arms of the Ludwigslust-Parchim district . It bears the inscription Mecklenburg-Vorpommern - Ludwigslust-Parchim . The medal is worn on the left side of the chest on a ribbon in the colors of the national flag : ultramarine blue , white , yellow , white and vermilion .
