The Waldeck hunting lodge from the west

The Waldeck hunting lodge is located in the Geilnau community in the Rhein-Lahn district in Rhineland-Palatinate .

The hunting lodge was built in 1797 on behalf of the Prince of Anhalt-Bernburg next to a mineral spring that was put back into operation in 1790 . The spring on the site of the former castle park and the castle are separated from each other by Lahnstraße, with the spring located directly on the banks of the Lahn and the castle on the mountain side of the street.

The interior of the building was redesigned between 1966 and 1967. The three-storey building has a basement-like ground floor, from which a wide, two-flight staircase leads to the first floor. The upper storey is slated and the roof has segmented gables.

According to a report by the SWR , the castle is now also referred to as the fountain house: “The associated 'fountain house' has served the painter Thomas Kohl as a studio and apartment for several years . The artist appreciates the spacious rooms in the former noble house. "

A visit is only possible from the outside today.
