Waldemar Babinicz

Waldemar Leon Babinicz (born August 13, 1902 in Kowel , † April 21, 1969 in Nałęczów ) was a Polish writer and publicist . In his novels, short stories and reports, he particularly addressed life in the country.

Life

Babinicz attended high schools in Chełm and Lublin . During the First World War he was a member of Polska Organizacja Wojskowa . After the war he studied Romance studies at the Catholic University of Lublin . After completing his studies, he worked as a teacher at middle schools from 1926 . In 1936 he moved to Warsaw, where he worked as a journalist for Dziennik Poranny and then for Nowa Rzeczpospolita .

During the German occupation he lived in the powiat Jędrzejowski and founded a people 's university ( Uniwersytet Ludowy ) underground. After the Second World War he headed the People's University in Pawłowice near Sędziszów and until 1968 in Różnica. In addition, from 1952 to 1958 he was chairman of the cultural commission of the Polish Socialist Party - Freedom, Equality, Independence in Kielce and a member of the general administration of Towarzystwo Wiedzy Powszechnej . He was also editor-in-chief of the magazine Ziemia Kielecka from 1956 to 1958 . He was then a member of the editorial board of Orka and Tygodnik Kulturalny magazine from 1959 to 1966 and of Kamena magazine from 1961 to 1964 . In 1960 he was admitted to the Union of Polish Writers . He published his feature articles in 1966 in Nasz Klub and from 1967 to 1968 in Teatr Ludowy . From 1966 to 1968 he prepared a monthly feature section for Polskie Radio's Kielce radio station .
