The forest mill in Mühlstrasse / Landesstrasse L3098 is a former mill in the municipality of Mühltal in the Hessian district of Darmstadt-Dieburg on the western edge of the Odenwald .

Geographical location

The forest mill is on a mill ditch between the hamlet of In der Mordach and Nieder-Beerbach .

History and description

The forest mill emerged from the fortified seat of the Lords of Reckershausen. The mill system essentially dates from the 19th century and is said to be on an old Roman road .

The closed rectangular courtyard has a roofed gate. Inside the two-storey mill building, parts of the transmission and gearbox as well as the mill wheel have been preserved.

Monument protection

In its structure and the shape of the outbuildings, the mill system still clearly shows the mill character. For architectural, industrial history, local history, technical history and economic history reasons, the building is a listed building .

Varia

Today the renovated mill is a purely residential building.
