Waldo Dörsch
Waldo Dörsch (born December 31, 1928 in Oberweid / Rhön , Thuringia ; † January 24, 2012 ) was a German sculptor .

Dörsch came from an old Rhön family and was the son of the woodcarver Louis Dörsch and Selma Dörsch, née Thomas.
He married in the spring of 1956 in Oberweid Heidi Leutbecher (born August 26, 1935 in Oberweid, daughter of journeyman painter Karl Leutbecher, and his wife Frida Leutbecher).
The daughter Susanne and son Thomas come from the marriage. The son learned the trade of a blacksmith and the daughter is a ceramist .
Life
Waldo Dörsch completed a wood carving apprenticeship in his father's workshop. From 1948 he studied at the University of Architecture and Fine Arts in Weimar.
He was a member of VBK Germany and a founding member of the Erfurt studio community . Dörsch worked in very complex areas from architecture-related art to colored drawing of surreal topics. In addition to sculptures, he created facade and fountain designs and devoted himself to drawing.

Dörsch created an important sculptural, drawing and graphic work. His works were displayed in galleries.
- "Diana on the hunt" fountain ( Dianabrunnen ) in front of the Centrum Warenhaus Suhl 1983/84
- New Anger fountain Erfurt Anger 1978/79
- Double-run, free-standing spiral staircase (constructivist fan-shaped staircase) at the Centrum Warenhaus Suhl, with Heinz Luther (architect) 1966–1969
- Memorial for the war victims at the Evangelical City Church in Stadtlengsfeld (formerly St. Margareta) in 1967
