Valentina Nikolaevna Cholopova

Valentina Nikolajewna Cholopowa ( Russian Валентина Николаевна Холопова ; born December 14, 1935 in Ryazan ) is a Russian musicologist .

Life

Cholopowa studied music theory at the Conservatory in Ryazan from 1950 to 1954 and music theory and composition with Roman Gruber , Victor Zukkermann and Leo Masel at the Moscow Conservatory from 1954 to 1962 . She received her doctorate in 1958 on Russian Musical Rhythm .

From 1952 to 1954 she taught in Ryazan and from 1959 to 1984 at the Gnessin Institute in Moscow . Since 1960 she has been Professor of Music Analysis at the Moscow Conservatory (since 1991 Chair of Interdisciplinary Musicology). From 1962 to 1963 she was visiting professor at the Nizhny Novgorod Conservatory and from 1991 to 1992 at the Conservatoire in Beijing and Shanghai. She has also been a professor at Lomonosov University since 1993 . She is the author of numerous articles and several books. a. have been translated into English, Chinese, German and French.

Her brother is the music theorist Yuri Cholopow .
