Valentina Petrovna Telegina ( Russian Валентина Петровна Телегина ; born February 10 . Jul / 23. February  1913 greg. In Novocherkassk , Russian Empire ; † 4. October 1979 in Moscow ) was a Soviet film - and theater - Actress .

Life and accomplishments

Originally from southern Russia, Telegina moved to Leningrad after finishing school and attended the Institute for Performing Arts there . At the same time, she took acting lessons from Sergei Gerasimow , who was then employed by the Lenfilmstudio , until 1937 .

In 1934 she appeared in Gerasimov's comedy Люблю ли тебя? ( Ljublju li tebja? ) Her film debut. Before Telegina had to interrupt her career due to the German-Soviet war , she appeared in ten other films. With Komsomolsk - City of Youth (1938) and Учитель ( Utschitel , 1939) she played two more times under Gerasimov's direction and was also involved in the short film Хирургия ( Chirurgija , 1939) based on Chekhov 's short story of the same name . From 1936 to 1940 she also appeared for the Radlow Theater and then for a year for the Theater of the Baltic Fleet . After the outbreak of war, Telegina was initially active in supplying troops, but also appeared again for Непобедимые ( Nepobedimye , 1942), again under Gerasimov's co-direction, in front of the camera, before she was evacuated to Alma-Ata . In the same year she appeared in two more films.

After the war, Telegina continued her career in Moscow, where she first appeared in the Theater of Cinema Actors from 1945 . In 1947 she stepped back in front of the camera for the Mosfilmproduktion Frühling (Весна). She was active in film and theater until her death. Telegina's preferred film roles were everyday women, her portrayals were often humorous. She had an aversion to negatively referenced characters, but sometimes embodied them. Her filmography includes over 80 works in different genres, e.g. B. the melodrama ( Resurrection , 1960–61, based on Tolstoy 's novel of the same name ), the historical drama ( Im Eismeer Verschollen , 1955), the social drama (Драгоценные зёрна, Dragozennye sjorna , 1947), the fairytale film ( The fairy tale of lost time , 1964 ) and the children's film ( A Drop in the Sea , 1973). She gave one of her few leading roles in Farewell to the Doves (1961).

Telegina also appeared several times as a voice actress , including for the Russian-language versions of Johann Alexander Hübler-Kahlas Seesterne (1952), Once the Sun Shines Again (1952) by George Seaton or the Czechoslovak production Where the Devil Didn't Go (1959) .

She died at the age of 66 and was buried in the Mitinski Cemetery , Section 21.

Honors

Telegina was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR (July 14, 1961) and People's Artist of the RSFSR (September 4, 1974). Her life was also the subject of the 23rd episode of the documentary series Чтобы помнили ( To commemorate , 1996).

The Russian Post issued a postcard with her likeness in 2015.

Private life

Telegina had a younger brother who was a slave laborer in Germany during the German-Soviet War and who later completed an education in the secret service. He returned to the Soviet Union in 1957, but rejected their social system, which is why she fell out with him.

Telegina was never married, but had a daughter named Nadezhda. For a long time, both maintained a distant relationship that only improved shortly before Telegina's death.
