Valery Viktorovich Brochin ( Russian Валерий Викторович Брошин; born October 9, 1962 in Leningrad , † March 5, 2009 in Moscow ) was a Soviet or Russian and Turkmen football player and football coach.

Player career

Broschin began his career as an active player in 1980 at Zenit Leningrad . With this team, the midfielder won the Soviet Football Championship in 1984 . In the same year he was with his team in the final of the Soviet Cup competition , but Zenit lost the game against Dynamo Moscow . After 107 games for Zenit, Broschin moved to CSKA Moscow in 1986 and became Soviet champions with this team in 1991. In 1992 he first came to Finland to the Kuopion PS team , but moved to CD Badajoz in the Spanish Segunda División that same season . After playing for CSKA Moscow for a short time again in 1993/94, Broschin moved to Israel , where he first played for Hapoel Kfar Saba and then for Maccabi Petach Tikwa . In 1995 he returned to Russia again and played ten games for the Zenit St. Petersburg team, which was then playing in the second-class 1st football division . In the 1997 and 1998 seasons, Broschin was in Turkmenistan with Köpetdag Ashgabat under contract and was with this team Turkmen champions and cup winners. After stints at the lower class Russian clubs SKA Rostov and FC Nika Moscow , he ended his career at FK Homel in Belarus in 2001 .

Broschin played for the Soviet national team for the first time in April 1987 . He took part in the 1990 World Cup in Italy , but was not used during this tournament. In total, he played three games for the Sbornaya and came to two missions in the Soviet Olympic team. After he had acquired Turkmen citizenship in 1997, he played a total of eleven times for the Turkmen national football team from 1997 to 1998 .

Coaching career

After his active career, Broschin first worked as an assistant coach at FK Homel, and later he coached FC Nika Moscow . Valery Brochin died of cancer on March 5, 2009 in Moscow.
