Walid bin Abdulkarim Al-Khuraiji

Walid bin Abdulkarim Al-Khuraiji ( Arabic وليد بن عبد الكريم الخريجي, DMG Walīd b. ʿAbd al-Karīm al-Ḫuraiǧī ; * 1958 in Medina ) is a Saudi diplomat . He was Minister of Agriculture for 51 days, is a member of the Saudi Shura and the current Saudi Ambassador in Ankara.

Career

From 1982 to 1984 he was construction manager for the Saudi Ministry of Agriculture for the drinking water supply of Riyadh . From 1984 to 1989 he was the technical director for the construction of technical infrastructure at the Ministry of Agriculture and Water in Rafha , Zulfi , Khamis Mushait , Hafr Al-Batin and Onaiza . From 1989 to 1990 he was Assistant to the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the United Nations World Food Program in Rome. From 1990 to 1994 he was Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the United Nations World Food Program in Rome . From 1995 to 2002 he was Director General of the Agriculture and Water Regimes in the Mecca Province . From 2002 to 2009 he was Ambassador to The Hague and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons . From 2013 to 2014 he was Vice President of the International Grain Council. From 2014 to 2015 he was President of the International Grain Council. From 2009 to 2014 he managed a grain silo and flour mill group. From December 8, 2014 to January 29, 2015, he was Minister of Agriculture. On February 14, 2015, Salman ibn Abd al-Aziz appointed him a member of his shura. He has been the ambassador in Ankara since April 17, 2017 .

On October 3, 2018, he was invited to the Turkish Foreign Ministry to comment on the whereabouts of the journalist Jamal Khashoggi . He stated that parties, media and journalists are working to sabotage Turkish-Saudi relations, which he described as deeply rooted and distinctive. He pointed to Saudi Arabia's investments in Turkey in all areas including banking, telecommunications, energy, as well as large investments in real estate. He said that in 2016, 660 built properties were acquired by Saudis, taking second place in terms of number among Arab investment nations and first place in terms of property value . He pointed to the joint security cooperation to ensure the safety of Saudi tourists and investment protection.
