Walter Behrend

Walter Wilhelm Christian Emil August Behrend (born July 10, 1885 in Rostock , † January 1954 in Pullach ) was a German editor , journalist and columnist who worked for the Münchner Neuesten Nachrichten , among others .

Life

Walter Behrend was born as the son of the businessman and restaurateur (innkeeper) Wilhelm Julius Behrend and his wife Frieda Emma Louise, née Freytag. After attending school, Walter Behrend studied political science, philosophy and modern languages ​​at the universities of Berlin , Rostock and Leipzig . He then worked as an editor for the Leipziger Tageblatt . After switching to the Neue Badische Landeszeitung as editor , he moved back to Rostock, where he worked for the Ostseezeitung . He was also active as a writer for Mecklenburgica. His work on Rostock and Wismar from 1909 was reprinted in 2005 .

Walter Behrend achieved his greatest fame as a columnist and editor for Münchner Neuesten Nachrichten . During this time he lived in Großhesselohe near Munich. In May 1933 he was fired along with around 50 other “politically unreliable” employees.

Walter Behrend was married to Amalie, the daughter of the factory owner Ed, on May 28, 1921. Wöllner.
