Walter Lorenz Felke (born February 10, 1928 in Laufersweiler ; † February 14, 2017 in Sohren ) was a German entrepreneur , local politician and holder of the badge of honor of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate .

Life

Walter Felke was born as the second oldest son of the Hunsrück entrepreneur Michael Felke and his wife Maria, née Oberst, in the municipality of Laufersweiler in the Hunsrück. In 1933 the family moved to neighboring Sohren , where his father expanded the furniture production company, the Felke Möbelwerke . After attending Herzog-Johann-Gymnasium in Simmern, he completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter in his father's industrial company from 1943 to 1945 , where he worked in purchasing from 1946. Under the management of the company's founder Michael and his brother Franz Felke , Felke-Möbelwerke was one of the largest furniture production companies in the Federal Republic of Germany in the 1960s, with numerous production and sales locations in all West German states . In 1970, together with his two brothers Aloys and Günter , he took over the management of Felke-Möbelwerke and all subsidiaries and branches.

Local political activity

From 1956 Felke was a member of the local community council and finally from 1964 to 1968 second alderman of Sohren. Between 1959 and 1974 he was on the board of the AOK Zell-Mosel and in 1974 on the board of the AOK Rhein-Hunsrück in Simmern.

Honors

For his commitment to local politics, his voluntary service as a long-standing parents' council at the Herzog-Johann-Gymnasium Simmern and his participation in the parish council of the Catholic parish of Sohren, Walter Felke was awarded the badge of honor of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate in 1985 and in 1998 with the Freiherr-vom-Stein- Excellent badge .
