Walter Jost

Walter Jost (born July 25, 1896 in Rastatt , † April 24, 1945 in Villadose , Italy ) was a German officer , most recently lieutenant general in World War II .

Life

Jost served as an officer in the First World War . In September 1916 he was promoted to lieutenant.

After the war he switched to the Reichswehr and worked as a commander and general staff officer in various units. In 1937 he reached the rank of lieutenant colonel.

In the Wehrmacht, he led the 75th Infantry Regiment from October 1941 to April 1943. and for a short time the 5th Infantry Division and for one year the 42nd Jäger Division .
