Division history
187th Division (Wehrmacht) and Division No. 187 (Wehrmacht)
In November 1939, the 187th Division, located in Linz, was formed in Wehrkreis XVII from the replacement force of Wehrkreis XVII set up in April 1939 and renamed Division No. 187 a month later.
187th Reserve Division
Division No. 187 was renamed the 187th Reserve Division in September 1942. By increasing hostilities the United Association of Austria to was Zagreb , Croatia , in the Army Group E transferred.
42nd Hunter Division
The division was formed on December 22, 1943 in Slavonski Brod , Croatia, from the 187th Reserve Division and carried out operations against partisans. The division was then part of the Margarethe company . From May 1944 to July 1944 the association was used in Yugoslavia . One regiment took part in the battle of the Neretva . Subsequently, the transfer to Italy followed first with the 14th and then with the 10th Army . She suffered heavy losses while retreating across the Po River . The division capitulated to British units in April 1945 at Belluno in northern Italy .
