The 143rd Reserve Division was a German Infantry Division of the Army in World War II in the Army Group North Ukraine .

Division history

Division No. 143

The Division was established in early 1939 as Division 143 in Frankfurt an der Oder ( III Military District ), which also initially headquarters (later Crossen ), as a replacement force for the staff of the 163rd Infantry Division set up in November 1939 to replace troops of the Military District II , now named Division No. 143 . In August 1941 he was transferred to Warthegau in the military district XXI and in September he was transferred to the 143rd Reserve Division.

143rd Reserve Division

The division was formed from Division No. 143 on September 18, 1942 and sent to the Lutsk region in Ukraine .

In April 1943 the division was deployed in Poland and in July 1943 in Ukraine . On February 18, 1944, the division in Dubno in western Ukraine was disbanded and the troops were assigned to other units of the Northern Ukraine Army Group. The 394th Field Training Division took over the position of this division and the 147th Reserve Division in Ukraine.
