The 188th Reserve Mountain Division was a German infantry division during World War II .
Division history
188th Division and Division No. 188
At the beginning of November 1939, in the course of mobilization in Salzburg, the 188th Division was set up as a replacement force for military district XVIII from the commander of the replacement troops XVIII, who had been set up shortly before . In December 1939 it was renamed Division No. 188 . In mid-April 1943 after three years of training, the division was relocated to Innsbruck .
188th Reserve Mountain Division
On October 8, 1943, the name was renamed and reclassified to the 188th Reserve Mountain Division, with four Jäger regiments, each with two battalions. A portion of the Division remained as a replacement division in the home territory, while the other as a field training Division mobile and field Post - numbers provided after the war outlet Italy in the northern Italy of Belluno - Tarvis - Gorizia in the region of the B army group was moved.
