Walter Map

Walter Map (* around 1140 ; † between 1208 and 1210 ) was an English writer of Welsh origin.

Map studied at the University of Paris theology , later became archdeacon in Oxford and worked as an important scholar at the court of King Henry II. In 1179 he was a delegate at the Third Lateran Council .

The only surviving work that can be safely assigned to him is De Nugi's Curialium (1181–1193).
