Walter Moore (pianist)

Walter Moore (born October 12, 1940 in Berkeley ) is an American pianist and music teacher .

Career

Walter Moore graduated from Stanford University with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree and attended a master class with Rosina Lhévinne .

He came to Vienna , where he trained with Erik Werba . From 1965 he was initially a répétiteur at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna , taught at the Franz Schubert Institute in Baden (Lower Austria) from 1978 and has been professor of song and oratorio at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna since 1984.

Moore accompanied Hans Hotter as an assistant to song courses at home and abroad. He gives lectures all over Europe, Asia and the USA and leads master classes at the Vienna Music Seminar.

As a member of the Viennese Ensemble Contraste, the pianist performs lively concerts at home and abroad, accompanying soloists such as Ileana Cotrubaș , László Polgár , Wolfgang Holzmair and Takako Okamura .
