Walter Nägeli

Walter Nägeli (born October 26, 1881 in Zurich ; † May 14, 1965 ibid), reformed and entitled to live in Zurich, was a Swiss federal judge .

Life

Walter Nägeli was born on October 26, 1881, the son of the businessman Walter Nägeli senior and Anna Maria, born a Marca. After attending school in Basel , Walter Nägeli began studying law at the University of Basel and Leipzig University , which he completed in 1904 in Basel with the academic degree of Dr. iur. completed.

Subsequently, Walter Nägeli was initially a lawyer in Zurich from 1905 , from 1909 as secretary of the higher court , from 1911 as district judge, from 1912 to 1917 as federal court secretary , later as federal court clerk and finally from 1933 to 1952 as federal judge, of which from 1951 as president , active. Nägeli, a member of the Free Democratic Party , exercised significant influence on the formal design of the judiciary in Switzerland.

Walter Nägeli married Anna Wilhelmine, the daughter of the mechanic Johann Konrad Nabholz, in 1910 . He died on May 14, 1965 at the age of 83 in Zurich.
