Walter Passian (born July 22, 1949 in Kassel ; † March 28, 2017 in Worms ) was a German writer and playwright who lived and worked in Worms.

Life

Walter Passian first grew up in Kassel. His professional activity as a trained cartographer at the Deutsche (Bundes) Bahn took him via Frankfurt am Main to the Rhineland-Palatinate metropolis of Mainz . In 1984, Passian moved to Worms, where he lived until his death. The main reason for this was his commitment to the amateur and amateur theater Volksbühne Worms . After initially being seen there in smaller roles, Passian played himself more and more into the hearts of the Worms fans. One of his star roles is the outstanding portrayal of George Clark in the comedy by Ray Cooney "Stay for Breakfast" from 1985.

In addition to some directing work, Passian first tried writing plays. Then he began to successfully dramatize children's fairy tales for the Christmas plays of the Volksbühne Worms . In the 1990s he also produced the Singspiele and musicals "Bühnenträume" (1996) and "Tandaradei" (1997) for the Eich musical days - organized by the Eich association . He was able to win the musician and composer Alexander Talmon for the musical implementation . In addition, some cabaret programs were created for the Volksbühne Worms. His dramaturgical work continued to focus on comedies (including The Singing Telegram). Many of his pieces have been performed in the Palatinate dialect in the Hemshofschachtel Theater in Ludwigshafen with great success.

Passian published his first crime novel "Mord am Geiersberg" in December 2000. Five more were all published under the label "Der Reinhessen-Krimi". Walter Passian is more active as a writer than ever, but you can occasionally see him on stage. In addition, he is particularly successful as the artistic director of the Volksbühne Worms.

In 2006, Worms Verlag published its documentation on the municipal game and festival house in Worms . Since then his short story volume: "Passians Nachtwelten" (2007), the last Rheinhessen crime thriller: "Fischerstechen" (2009) and 2012 the short story volume "Rheinhessische Kurzgeschichten" with Hartmut Keil.

In the same year he worked with Dorota Wojsyk on Ephraim Kishon's "Es war die Lerche" for the Volksbühne Worms. He is currently preparing a reading evening with the correspondence between Friedrich Nietzsche and Richard and Cosima Wagner under the title "Beloved Master".

Walter Passian died on March 28, 2017.
