Walter Sparn

Walter Sparn (born November 15, 1941 in Wels ) is a German theologian.

Life

From 1962 to 1968 he studied (Protestant theology, philosophy, history) in Tübingen ( Evangelisches Stift Tübingen ), Erlangen , Bonn and Edinburgh . After receiving his doctorate in 1974 as Dr. theol. in Munich he was deputy head of the research department at the Herzog August Library from 1980 to 1986 . After completing his habilitation in Göttingen in 1982 , he was professor (systematic theology and contemporary religious questions) at the Faculty of Cultural Studies at the University of Bayreuth from 1986 to 1995 . From 1995 to 2007 he was Professor (Systematic Theology I) at the Theological Faculty of the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg .

His main research interests are systematic theology: dogmatics, ethics, fundamental theology; Philosophy of religion, empirical research on religion and the history of piety and science of the modern age.
