Walter Weyers

Walter Weyers (* 1952 in Cologne ) is a German director and author . He writes plays for adults and children as well as novels , crime stories and poetry . From 1997 to 2016 he was director of the State Theater Schwaben (LTS) in Memmingen .

Life

Walter Weyers studied philosophy , German literature and theater studies at the University of Cologne and completed an acting course. He then worked as chief dramaturge at the Städtebundtheater Hof, Landestheater Coburg, Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern and at the stages of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck. He worked as a director in Karlsruhe, Saarbrücken, Düsseldorf, Trier, Kaiserslautern, Würzburg, Hof, Coburg, Lübeck, Osnabrück and Graz.

Walter Weyers produced with David DeFeis , the singer and bandleader of the heavy metal band Virgin Steele , the heavy metal operas " Klytaimnestra or the Curse of the Atrids " (UA, 1999), " Hel or the Rebels" (UA, 2001) and “ Lilith ” (UA, 2005). He directed, music and musical dramaturgy are by David DeFeis. Performances took place at the State Theater Swabia and at the Federal Garden Show 2005 in Munich . In 2007 he implemented the "Prometheus Brain Project" together with the band Axxis . The play tells the story of the Greek deity Prometheus. He had secretly sneaked into the heaven of gods to steal some fire seeds from the sun wheel and bring them to the people on earth. Bernhard Weiß acted as a singer on the stage there. The band was responsible for the musical staging. The world premiere was on October 7, 2007 in Memmingen.

For several years he has been the initiator and organizer of cultural studies conferences with international participation and as a trainer of management seminars. In collaboration with Herbert Arlt, Walter Weyers brought the "Memminger Talks" into being, which, based on a production by the State Theater Swabia, critically examine cultural phenomena as part of a scientific symposium.
