Walter Zacharias
Walter Zacharias (born October 21, 1919 in Regensburg , † July 19, 2000 there ) was a German contemporary artist .
Life
Zacharias studied from 1947 to 1951 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Adolf Schinnerer , Franz Klemmer and Franz Nagel .
After that he was employed full-time in the management of the inherited family business and only worked as an artist on the side. In 1959 he bought a Waldlerhaus in the Bavarian Forest , which he used as a studio. There he also collected a variety of used everyday objects, mainly from rural life, which he used for his sculptures . After his retirement in 1980 he then worked exclusively as a freelance artist. His main work as an artist falls during this period. His works have been shown in numerous solo exhibitions and exhibition participations, also internationally.

- 1984 and 1989: Awards from the Japanese Foreign Ministry on the occasion of the International Calligraphy Exhibition , Tokyo
- 1988: Culture Prize of the City of Regensburg
