Walter von Brabeck

Walter von Brabeck (* around 1553 ; † December 7, 1626 ) was provost in Paderborn and canon in Münster .

Life

Origin and family

Walter von Brabeck came from the Westphalian noble family von Brabeck , which had its origin in Vest Recklinghausen . He was the son of Wolter von Brabeck and his wife Kiliana von Westhofen zu Letmathe and had six siblings: Engelbert (Canon 1582–1620), Schonebeck (∞ Anna von Letmathe, son Johann was Canon), Jürgen (Drost in Oer), Heinrich (Canon, 1615–1618), Engelbert (Canon, 1611–1636) and Westhoff (∞ Anna Ursula von Landsberg, whose sons Ludolf Walter , Jobst Edmund and Johann Ernst were canons in Münster. The son Engelbert (* 1621) was canon in Hildesheim).

Already in 1577 he was canon in Paderborn and became cathedral dean and in 1589 cathedral provost . In Münster he was presented on February 2, 1581 by Bernhard von Westerholt for a cathedral priest . On July 21st of that year he received the preamble from the late Canon Bernhard Morrien . On March 10, 1625 , he renounced this benefice. In Paderborn he remained in office and in possession of the benefice until his death.

In Paderborn he donated the southern stair tower of the Theodorianum .
