Walther Karl Theodor Graef (born July 27, 1875 in Bertikow ; † 1939 ) was a German publisher and politician ( German Conservative Party , DNVP ).

Life

Walther Graef was born the son of a manor owner. After attending high school in Prenzlau , he first completed a commercial apprenticeship in a Szczecin wholesaler. He then studied political science at the universities in Heidelberg and Berlin . During his studies he became a member of the Association of German Students in Heidelberg . From 1899 to 1909 he worked as an editor in Hamburg , Prenzlau and Anklam . In 1910 he took over the management of a printing company and a newspaper publisher in Anklam, and in 1917 he took over the management of a newspaper publisher in Ueckermünde . In addition, he was a board member of the Association of German Newspaper Publishers.

For the German Conservative Party, Graef was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives from 1913 to 1918 as a member of the constituency Stettin 1 (Demmin - Anklam - Usedom). In 1917 and 1918 he was secretary of the House of Representatives. After the November Revolution, he joined the DNVP. From 1919 to 1921 he was a member of the Prussian state assembly and from 1921 to 1932 a member of the Prussian state parliament . There he was deputy chairman of the DNVP faction, which he left on January 23, 1932. He remained non-attached until he left parliament.
