Walther Zeitler

Walther Zeitler (* 1923 in Wiesau ; † June 2006 in Regensburg ) was a German journalist , press officer and author of numerous non-fiction books.

Life

Zeitler worked for 23 years as a press spokesman for the former Federal Railway Directorate in Regensburg, Nuremberg and Munich. In 1953 he came to the Bavarian Forest for the first time . Since 1966 he has written a total of 39 books on the topics of railways and art and culture in Eastern Bavaria and the Bavarian Forest. His books reached a total circulation of around 600,000 copies. Zeitler lived in Regensburg in his last years and had a second home in Kirchberg im Wald . In reports, some of which were again summarized in books, he portrayed numerous, mostly very old, inhabitants of the Bavarian Forest, who often practiced professions that are now extinct, such as shingle maker , Sauschneider or ranger.
