Wanju County ( kor. 완주군 , Wanju-gun ) is located in Jeollabuk-do Province . The administrative headquarters are located in Jeonju City .
The Daedunsan Provincial Park with the 878 m high Macheondae peak is located in the district . Other mountains are the Unjangsan (1126 m) and the Moaksan (794 m).
Well-known temples are
- the Songgwangsa , built in 1622 , which is known for its finely painted frescoes in the main hall,
- the Hwaamsa (built in 650)
- the Wibongsa temple , founded in 604 , which is located in the fortress ruins of Wibong , of which only wall remains are preserved.
The Gyeongcheon , Dongsang and Dae-a water reservoirs are distributed across the county , with the latter supplying the cities of Gunsan , Iksan and Jeonju with drinking water.
The Jungnim hot springs have the most sulphurous water in South Korea.
