Warburg (noble family)
Warburg is the name of a noble family that belonged to the Mecklenburg prehistoric nobility .
history
After Gustav von Lehsten, the family came to Mecklenburg from the Altmark . The place of origin is presumed to be Wahrburg near Stendal . In Mecklenburg it appears for the first time on June 13, 1244 with the knight Hinricus de Warborch . The family line begins with the knight Hermann von Warburg , who appears in a document on May 15, 1298. The family is one of the signatories of the Union of Estates from 1523 and was wealthy in the Land of Stargard for centuries . Her oldest possession in Mecklenburg was Ballin, today part of Lindetal , already from 1389 on Gut Quadenschönfeld, today part of Möllenbeck (near Neustrelitz) , and Stolpe (Mecklenburg) , which was initially a subsidiary of Quadenschönfeld and became independent property of Hellmut von Warburg in 1837 . In Dobbertiner Einschreibebuch the registrations of five daughters of 1854-1868 found out Quadenschönfeld for inclusion in the aristocratic convent in the monastery Dobbertin .
At the end of the 19th century the family died out in Mecklenburg. Stolpe became part of the grand ducal domination , and Quadenschönfeld came to the Bernstorff family in 1883 . The branch founded by Friedrich Wilhelm von Warburg settled in Hohenlandin, now part of Mark Landin , in the Uckermark . His son Wilhelm Georg von Warburg had Warburg House built in the Tudor style here.
coat of arms
The coat of arms shows an oblique red bar covered with three silver roses in the silver field . On the helmet with red and silver covers a three-towered red castle, in the gate of which stands a man in armor .
Siebmacher's coat of arms book from 1605 shows the coat of arms mirror-inverted and with a different tinge : in a blue field a slanted silver bar, covered with three six-petalled blue roses. On the helmet with blue-silver covers over a bulge a two-towered silver castle with blue roofs, in whose gate the man in armor stands.
