The ships of the type WARNOW CV 2600 are the first container ships to be built on the new facilities of the Kvaerner Warnow shipyard, which was restructured until 1995 . They had another symbolic character, as they also initiated the new beginning of the Deutsche Seereederei GmbH, which was then just privatized, and its fleet renewal program. The ships were managed by the shipping company F. Laeisz GmbH in Rostock .

Brief description

The Pomeranian
The Potsdam

This type of ship is a further development of the full container ships of the Saturn type built in the Warnow shipyard between 1987 and 1988 . The ships have been designed and built according to the regulations of Germanischer Lloyd and the See-Berufsgenossenschaft . The containers are stowed in six cargo holds, which are closed weathertight by pontoon hatch covers. In the hold there are storage scaffolding for the transport of 40-foot containers, which also allow the transport of 20-foot containers lengthways. The stowage of 45-foot containers is possible on deck in the second tier.

The hull was made in longitudinal frame construction. Higher-strength steel with a yield point of 355 N / m² was used in the highly stressed areas of the hatch coamings , the main deck , the shear duct and parts of the wall duct.

The engine room is in the area of frames 40-77. The main engine is located in it. This slow-running long- stroke diesel engine of the type DMR - 8 K 80 MC-C (license MAN ) is the world's first engine of a performance-enhanced design. Production took place in the Vulkan diesel engine plant, Rostock (DMR) . The engine is charged by two exhaust gas turbochargers from MAN B&W. The engine is designed for operation with highly viscous fuels up to 700  cSt / 50 ° C.

The propeller is a 6-blade fixed propeller with a diameter of 7.30 m and generates a thrust of 1920 kN. The manufacturer is Mecklenburger Metallguss Waren GmbH (MMG).

All on-board workplaces comply with the regulations of Germanischer Lloyd and the See-Berufsgenossenschaft.
