Washington Luiz Mascarenhas da Silva , Washington for short , (born June 17, 1978 in São José dos Campos , Brazil ) is a former Brazilian soccer player.
Career
Washington began his career in 1998 at São José EC . At the beginning of his professional career, he spent a season at the Greek club Skoda Xanthi before he returned to São José EC and rose to the professional league there. After he had been under contract with various Brazilian clubs from 2000 to 2005, he went to Palmeiras São Paulo . He scored five goals in the Copa Libertadores . In 2006 and 2007 he was loaned by the Japanese club FC Tokyo and the Brazilian club Sport Recife .
In the 2007/08 season he moved to the Turkish club Torku Konyaspor ; In 2008 he was loaned from the Associação Portuguesa de Desportos . In 2009 he moved to EC Vitória . In 2010 Washington went to Ceará SC and was the top scorer there in 2011. In December 2011 he signed a contract with ABC Natal for the 2012 season . In the 2012/13 season he moved to Brasiliense FC . In 2013 and 2014 he was under contract with three other Brazilian clubs. His last club was Atlético Joseense from 2015 to 2016 .
