The Washington Township is a township in Lucas County , Ohio . At the 2000 census it had 3,574 inhabitants. After several incorporations, the formerly larger township now consists of only three small, separate areas in the north of Toledo .
The westernmost and smallest area, Alexis Place , is an enclave only 800 × 500 m in size, surrounded by Toledo . The Shantee Creek flows through Alexis and also forms its eastern border. A trailer park ( Raintree Mobile Home Village ) takes up most of the enclave . The slightly larger section of Shoreland is east of Interstate 75 and northwest of the Ottawa River estuary about two miles east of Alexis Place. The Ottawa River forms a border with the city of Toledo, which Shoreland encloses on three sides. Only in the north does Washington Township border Erie Township , Michigan .
The third and by far largest part of the Washington Township is a small sector of Lake Erie in Maumee Bay . The township has a total area of 17.1 km², of which 14.8 km² is water and only 2.3 km² is land.
The Washington Township in Lucas County is one of 43 Washington townships in Ohio alone.
