The water tower in Böckingen was built in 1929 in an expressionist style and is considered the landmark of the Heilbronn district of Böckingen . As a cultural monument , it is under monument protection .

history

In 1899 the municipality of Böckingen built its first pumping station on Großgartacher Strasse and led the water into a first elevated tank in the Böckingen brickworks . In 1929 another pumping station was set up in the Widmannstal on the Neckargartach area. For this purpose, the water tower was built on the Böckinger Schafberg above the brickworks in the same year as an elevated tank under city schoolteacher Adolf Alter and based on a design by city building officer Karl Tscherning .

Extensive garden plots once extended between the local development and the water tower. Due to the designation of new development areas, the water tower is now surrounded by residential buildings.

description
