Life

Wassili Fomin first drew attention to himself for the first time at the Soviet championships in 1979 when he was in the Greco-Roman. Style, the style that he exclusively wrestled, took 2nd place in bantamweight behind Vitaly Konstantinov . He was then in the Soviet national team of wrestlers in Greco-Roman. Style added.

In the next few years, Wassili achieved good places in some top-class international wrestling tournaments and also won several of these tournaments. Nevertheless, it was not easy for him to qualify for the major international championships in view of the enormous competition in his own country, including Shamil Serikow , Kamil Fatkulin , Farhat Mustafin and Vitaly Konstantinov .

In 1982 he was then used in the bantamweight championship in Katowice . He reached the 3rd place there and won a bronze medal. It was a similar experience at the 1983 European Championships in Budapest . After four victories he lost to the Bulgarian Emil Ivanov and the Greek Haralambos Holidis in the final battles, with which he again won a bronze medal.

After this world championship, Vasily was no longer used in any international championships. Nothing is known about his further life.
