The WaveWalker 1 is a jack-up platform for use in coastal waters that can move on jack-up legs. The design comes from the companies Fugro Seacore from Falmouth and Van Oord from Gorinchem . The platform is owned by WaveWalker BV, a joint venture between the two companies. The jack-up platform was built by Neptune Shipyards in Hardinxveld-Giessendam in 2012 .

By changing the deck superstructure, the platform can be used flexibly; drilling , dredging and blasting work , the laying of submarine cables or pipelines and other work in the installation and maintenance of offshore structures are possible .

construction

The platform has eight lifting stilts, all of which can be moved horizontally by means of a rail construction. The stilts have a diameter of 1.80 m and are each 40 m long. The maximum lifting height of the platform is 25 m. The arrangement of the stilts makes it possible to move the platform up to four meters forwards or sideways when it is raised. To do this, four legs are moved on the rails in the desired direction and lowered there. Then the other four legs are raised and the entire platform is moved. In this way, up to 40 meters can be covered in one hour. The deck load must not exceed 400 tons while walking.

The platform measures 32 m × 32 m with a side height of 4.5 m. The maximum displacement is 2400 tons. In the middle there is a moon pool of 17 m × 9 m, which can be covered if necessary. There are two cranes on deck , a Lagendijk LWC900 rope crane with a lifting capacity of 100 tons and a radius of six meters and a Langedijk LKB 13.0 / 20.0-10.0 hydraulic crane with a lifting capacity of 10 tons. On request, accommodation for up to 24 people can be installed on deck. The classification is carried out by Germanischer Lloyd (GL).
