Wayne Township is located in northwest Adams County in southwest Ohio, about 35 km to the south from the Ohio River , which forms the natural border with Kentucky , and is bordered clockwise by the townships: Winchester Township , Scott Township , Oliver Township , Tiffin Township , Liberty Township and, in Brown Counties , Byrd Township and Jackson Township .

The township is administered by a Board of Trustees consisting of three elected members. Two people are elected in the year after the presidential election and one in the year before. The term of office usually lasts four years and begins on January 1st.
