Weberbauerocereus albus is a species of plant from the genus Weberbauerocereus in the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Weberbauerocereus albus grows tree-shaped with straight, mostly upright, gray-green shoots branched in the lower third and reaches heights of up to 6 meters with a diameter of 8 centimeters. The 15 to 18 ribs are 1 centimeter high and extremely blunt. The areoles on it are brown. One or two central spines and 15 to 25 radial spines arise from them . The very strong, light brownish yellow central spines are sub-like and 5 to 10 millimeters long. The light yellow to brownish yellow radial spines are up to 10 millimeters long. The lowest of them are finer. In the flowering area, the shape of the thorns change and they eventually turn into hairs up to 10 centimeters long .

The somewhat zygomorphic and somewhat fragrant flowers open at night, but remain open until the next morning. They are up to 12 centimeters long and have a diameter of 5.5 to 7.5 centimeters. Their bracts are white to pink in color. The spherical fruits are greenish to reddish and reach a diameter of up to 3 centimeters. They are densely covered with wool.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Weberbauer ocereus albus is distributed in the Peruvian regions of Cajamarca and Ancash at altitudes of 2000 to 3000 meters. It was first described in 1962 by Friedrich Ritter . Synonyms are Haageocereus albus (F.Ritter) GDRowley , Weberbauerocereus longicomus F.Ritter and Haageocereus longicomus (F.Ritter) PVHeath .

In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
