The weaver's house in Kleinschwarzenbach is one of the architectural monuments of the city of Helmbrechts and is an example of a cultural-historical area of life in the Franconian Forest .

Location and ensemble

The Weberhaus (Zum Weberhaus 10) is located roughly in the center of the village at the junction from the state road St 2194 , which in town runs as Schwarzenbacher Straße from Helmbrechts to Schwarzenbach am Wald . In the street Zum Weberhaus, which flows into the street Zur Schlegelmühle, there are two further listed weaver houses, which have characteristic features of the region with tailcoat roofs or as residential stable houses . There are other former weaver houses in the village. Some of them have undergone significant structural changes over the centuries. Nevertheless, the number of preserved weaver houses in Kleinschwarzenbach is large, so that one can speak of a weaver village as a building ensemble . The Weberhausmuseum Neudorf in neighboring Neudorf , a district of Schauenstein , also provides information about hand weaving in the Franconian Forest . In addition to the historical origins of hand-weaving, the Upper Franconian Textile Museum in Helmbrechts also looks at the region's development into a modern textile industry location . The weaver's house was part of the special exhibition Zwischenlichten .

Buildings and equipment

The Weberhaus is a single-storey residential building with a thatched pitched roof . It comes from the 18th / 19th centuries. Century. In the monument protection list it is listed under the designation D-4-75-136-35. The building was initially a trumpet house , which over time also included real estate as a sign of modest prosperity. The property tax register shows the change of ownership of the house from weaver Johann Georg Riedel to weaver Johann Nicol Peetz and his wife Margarete. The last residents were the married couple Johann and Marie Peetz. Today the house is open for tours. Many objects of the original equipment have been preserved. The house is re-thatched at regular intervals . The largest room on the ground floor is the weaving room, in which the loom was located and which was the family's living room . The entrance leads into an anteroom; From there the weaving room, the black kitchen including the cellar with vaults and stables separated for goats and pigs and the attic can be reached by stairs. A wooden barn adjoins the stables . The attic was used to store tools and supplies, and the bedroom was above the weaving room .
