Weberkuhle is a forest area and a former manor district in the Nienburg / Weser district in Lower Saxony .

location

The Weberkuhle district lies on both sides of the federal highway 214 on the areas of the communities Wietzen ( joint municipality Marklohe ) and Binnen ( joint municipality Liebenau ). The Weberkuhlegraben flows through the area.

history

The Forsthof of the same name, located in the Weberkuhle district, belonged to the Nienburg Office during the Kingdom of Hanover . After the annexation by Prussia in 1866 , Weberkuhle was assigned to the district of Nienburg . During the Second World War , Soviet prisoners from the nearby Glissen prison camp were used for forced labor in the Weberkuhle state forest.

Today the Nienburg district forester is based in the Weberkuhle forest house. The state forest is managed by the Lower Saxony State Forests .

Since 1973 the Weberkuhle district has been designated as a "Weberkuhle-Kaiserberg" landscape protection area in accordance with the LSG NI 43 regulation .

Personalities

  • Richard Cappelle (1886–1954), teacher and historian, was born the son of the royal forester on December 16, 1886 in the forester's house Weberkuhle.
