Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. is an American supermarket chain, headquartered in Rochester , New York .

As of October 2019, Wegmans had 101 stores in the Central Atlantic and New England . The company has offices in New York , Pennsylvania , New Jersey , Maryland , Massachusetts , Virginia and North Carolina , with plans to expand into Delaware . Wegmans is on Fortune Magazine's list of the "100 Best Companies to Work For" .
The company's headquarters are on the outskirts of Rochester in the so-called "Gates". Danny Wegmann is the managing director. His daughter, Colleen Wegman, is President and CEO and his second daughter, Nicole Wegman , is Vice President . Danny's father, Robert Wegman († 2006) was the former managing director.

Wegmans was founded in Rochester in 1916 . Wegmans is a family business founded in 1916 by John and Walter Wegman as the Rochester Fruits and Vegetable Company . John Wegman's father and Walter Wegman's grandfather, Balthasar Wegmann, came from Birkenhördt in the Palatinate . He emigrated to New York and then moved to Rochester.
In 2020 Wegmans was ranked 3rd on Fortune Magazine's list based on employee surveys and employee satisfaction.
