history

The church and the church once belonged to the Käfernburg and was later a subsidiary of Oberndorf near Arnstadt.

The walls and the church are from Gothic times. The building is said to have been built in the 13th century. The ability to defend itself and the character of defense can be recognized by the doors, the high entrance and the slits of light. The handling and the gargoyles are also evidence of this time.

There are two galleries in the church , one behind the organ , which was installed by Johann Anton Weise in 1727 .

The tent roof was only later added to the battlements of the tower .

A comprehensive renovation was carried out around 1769 . The church was extended to the east and provided with a mansard roof.
